First. Blog. Post.
So, I have known for weeks when my website was going live. I have squirreled away blog posts, because when you decide to take your business online, you have decided (I had anyway) that you have something to say. And I do. Lots.
But the first post? Oh, the pressure. I guess the best way to begin is to tell you why I got into this shin-dig in the first place.
“Health is wealth.” Virgil said that around 30BC and it couldn’t be more true today. Without our health we don’t live, we simply exist. I know this from small instances in my own life, but mainly from watching people age. That window into old age has been a great motivator.
Not everyone in the world has the freedom of choice. But WE do, every one of us. We choose our thoughts, our actions and our reactions. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like a choice, but it is, I promise. This truth in itself is so empowering. When we get to choose, life doesn’t just happen to us.
When it comes to health and wellness, our choices make us who we are. We can choose to take care of or neglect ourselves. We all know someone who doesn’t take care of themselves and gets away with it, but generally speaking, if you don’t prioritize yourself, you will have to pay the piper.
Life is a crap shoot, sure. But me, I prefer to play the odds. Despite what the media would lead us to believe, we are living in the safest time in human history. Odds are we will get close to or exceed our life expectancy mark. And I fully intend to keep quality in the quantity of my life.
I choose to move my body whenever I get the chance. I choose sleep and have learned how to say no—often. I choose real, whole food. I choose to stay organized and to keep my life as balanced as possible while juggling hubbie, five kids and my business. (you can read more about me here). These are habits that we can all make part of our lives—we really can.
Have I always made these choices? Hell no! I have come a long way baby. And I still have plenty to work on.
It’s hard—I know. But better choices happen when we let go of the guilt for putting ourselves first and when we practice, practice, practice. That is my main goal with LornaGager.com. To help you practice being gentle with yourself and to slowly add life enhancing habits that will improve your well-being in the long run.
So now it is your turn.
What is a choice you can make to better yourself today?
Is there something you have been thinking about for a while?
Please tell us about it in the comments below.

Miss you too Fi. One day we will see each other again. In the meantime, I am glad to see you here!

Great choices Tamsen!
Loved this Lorna. My favorite part: “That is my main goal with LornaGager.com. To help you practice being gentle with yourself and to slowly add life enhancing habits that will improve your well-being in the long run”.
That means a lot coming from you Amy. Thanks.
My choice: Keep reading your blog in the future.
Well done. Looking forward to post #2.
You’re the best Nick!

Thanks Carolyn. Glad you are here.
I’m going to choose to quit berating myself for getting nothing done. It’s not helping me get anything done!
Great post, thank you.
Annabel, your comment made me laugh, but it is oh so true.
Keep them coming – you truly are an inspiration, Cx
Will do Cliona. Thanks. 🙂
Love your post. I am inspired. Keep it up! I am going to bypass the brownies Carly just made and make her go on a walk with me. It’s a start. 🙂
