You Gotta Want It

August 2, 2017 By Lorna 2 Comments

“That’s nice, I guess, but I don’t need it. My life is fine the way it is.”  Her voice as she said this was defensive and held a touch of condescension. I was speaking to someone I had just met about the transformational work I do with women and all the changes that have helped in my own life. I was telling her how much different everyday can feel and how burdens and worries are lifted off your shoulders when you embrace some new truths about yourself. She wasn’t having it. She was skeptical and uncomfortable with my sharing. But her reaction didn’t bother me because I have encountered it before. Transformational life changes are not for everyone.   That fact is not only ... Read More about You Gotta Want It

How to live your life more fully

August 2, 2017 By Lorna 3 Comments

Greetings from 36,000 feet. I’m currently in route to Dallas for my daughter’s bridal shower. She’s getting married this October to a wonderful man and our family is so excited about their upcoming nuptials. Especially during this challenging year, it has been wonderful to have something happy to focus on.                                                                                               I want to thank everyone who took the time to reach out last week after my extended absence. Your words of support and encouragement were tremendously uplifting. I also loved reading your Summer updates. Exciting stuff!  Depending on how long you’ve been reading here, you may know that my ... Read More about How to live your life more fully

I know, I know…it's been forever

August 2, 2017 By Lorna Leave a Comment

Hello again (she says sheepishly).   Yes, it's been awhile. Maybe you suspected this would happen.   Maybe you realized that when someone asks to separate after a 17 year marriage and five kids....it tends not to be the easiest of times. This has definitely been a "you can't understand it 'til you've been through it" kind of year.  It has been challenging, no doubt. But there have also been wonderful times and lots of hope for the future. The reason I haven't written may not be why you think.  It's not because I have been having such a hard time or have been stuck in a downward spiral. Although there have certainly been intermittent stretches of that, they are not what ... Read More about I know, I know…it's been forever

Time is on your side (really)

March 17, 2017 By Lorna Leave a Comment

She rushed into my office out of breath. “Sorry I’m late….ugh, I’m always running late. I’m just so busy.” This is a sentiment I hear often.   “I have too much do to."  “There’s not enough time in the day."  "How are you?”  "Good….but busy." Our country is an epidemic of busy. Many people wear it like a badge of honor. I’m sure you’ve read countless articles on managing your time better.   There are systems, programs and easy to follow tips and tricks. You are told to write lists, wake up earlier, cut "time suckers" out of your life.   All of those suggestions can help, but they don’t address the underlying issue. It’s how you approach your days. You wake ... Read More about Time is on your side (really)

Do you trust your knowing?

March 17, 2017 By Lorna Leave a Comment

“If you choose the cheaper option it’s going to cost 6K, if you go with the more extensive re-routing, it will cost closer to 10.”  Audible sigh. “Do we absolutely have to do this?” I asked him. “No choice. If you don’t do it, the water pipes could burst at any time.” “What would you do Tom?” “If it were my house, I would go with the 10K answer, you don’t want to take chances with pipes in your walls. “Ok then, I guess we have to do it. There goes 10K.” This was a conversation I had with my contractor back when my house was getting renovated in 2014. Although he had just told me that my budget needed to be upped by ten grand, I was strangely ok with it.   You see, I ... Read More about Do you trust your knowing?
